Air Quality Near Me: Ozone
Monitoring in Sussex
This section is designed to give public access to the air quality monitoring data gathered on ozone (O3) within Sussex. To date ozone monitoring had been undertaken along the coastal areas of Sussex by using Ozone analysers in purpose built Air Quality Monitoring Stations (AQMS). This data is accessable via the link Air Quality monitoring Data.
To enhance and improve our knowledge of ozone concentrations across Sussex the SAQSG has undertaken to increase the spatial monitoring of ozone by utilising ozone diffusion tubes and with the assistance of funding by the EU Interreg III funding system, we will increase monitoring of ozone with an additional 2 x O3 AQMS and 10 x O3 microsensors through our Franco-Anglo ARMO Project. Refer to maps showing proposed ozone monitoring across Sussex:
- Map 1: Ozone diffusion tube locations 2004-2006.
- Map 2: Existing and new ozone monitoring station locations for 2005/06.
- Map 3: Ozone "microsensor" monitoring station locations for 2005/06.
Ozone diffusion tube data:
Ozone diffusion tubes have been located across Sussex from July 2004 as part of a project to ascertain levels of ozone along the coastal and inland areas.
Diffusion tubes are devices which absorb a pollutant (i.e. ozone) when the tube is exposed (opened) to the atmosphere. The tubes are exposed for a period of 1 month and then sent to a laboratory for analysis. The analysis determines what the concentration of the pollutant was for the location over that period. The resuts of the exposures are to be updated on this site (monthly) and are accessable by selecting the location on the map below.
