News image for Heatwave plan for England 2009 (includes air quality). Air quality (ozone) is integrated into the Department of Health Heatwave plan for England 2009 (19th May 2009).

The plan affects many people already using airAlert and Sussex-air is to look into developing a service in the future.

Advice and levels of warnings/alerts are described in the plan. The plan recognises the combined affects of ozone in heatwaves and provides advice, risks groups and preventative measurses.

DoH:
"The Plan`s purpose is to enhance resilience in the event of a heatwave. It is an important component of overall emergency planning; and will become increasingly relevant in adapting to the impact of climate change."
